STERILIZATION AT THE FINAL PHASE OF MANUFACTURING
The TERMINAL STERILIZATION PROCESS is the golden standard applied by government healthcare authorities worldwide to guarantee the best possible sterilization. Unlike the other sterilization method used in the industry (aseptic filling), the terminal sterilization happens only when a cartridge is filled up and tightly sealed. So no additional sterilization step is required.

Indications
Septanest with adrenaline 1:100 000 & Septanest with adrenaline 1:200 000 are used for local & loco-regional anesthesia in dentistry.
One cartridge has to be injected approximately during 2 minutes. The injection speed has to be 1 mL/min.
Dosage

GROWN-UPS
The average dose is 1 cartridge per session. Do not exceed the dose of 7 mg of articaine hydrochloride per 1 kg of a grown-up's weight, i.e. the maximum dose shall be no more than 5 to 6 cartridges per session (considering that 1 cartridge contains 68,000 mg of articaine).

CHILDREN
The quantity depends on how old the child is and how difficult the intervention is. The maximum dose is 5 mg of articaine hydrochloride (0.125 mL of the anesthetic) per 1 kg of the child's weight.
Use this formula to calculate the average dose of articaine hydrochloride (in mg) for children:

ELDERLY
Divide the dose calculated for a grown-up by two.

hypersensitivity to articaine or other local amide-type anesthetics, adrenaline (epinephrine), sulphites, and to any auxiliary components of the product

paroxysmal tachycardia & other tachyarrhythmia

acute heart failure, conduction abnormality (atrioventricular heart block - degree 2 or 3, severe brachycardia), severe arterial hypertension

bronchial asthma with hypersensitivity to sulphites

closed-angle glaucoma

patient taking ß-adrenergic blocking agents

hepatic failure (porphyria)

hyperthyreosis, chromaffinoma

Each cartridge's inner surface is coated with silicone to guarantee smooth plunger movement and steady anesthetic injection.
The labeling is made using special-purpose protective film. If a cartridge gets shattered, the protective film will hold the fragments so that everyone is safe. Due to this anti-shatter protection Septanest is viewed as the appropriate product for the popular intraligamentary anesthesia.
The positioning groove (on the rubber plunger's reverse side) prevents the plunger from being tilted.

When inspecting a cartridge, hold it against a source of light to see if any small cracks are there.
Corrosion
Виникнення білого порошкоподібного нальоту на алюмінієвій пробці свідчить про наявність корозії.
Зазвичай це трапляється, коли карпулу обробляють дезінфекційним засобом, що містить четвертинні солі амонію. Цього можна уникнути під час дезінфікування карпул альтернативними розчинами (ізоприловим або етиловим спиртом). Якщо є корозія, карпули використовувати неможна.
